Our Impact

BEYOND SOFTWARE · THE COTE MISSION

Transforming Africa's digital future through innovation, excellence — and inclusion.

COTE Technologies was born during the COVID-19 pandemic at Makerere University from a simple observation: Africa has technology graduates being underutilised, while millions of children in rural communities have no pathway into the digital economy at all. Our impact work exists to close that gap — school by school, district by district, partner by partner.

THE PROBLEM WE'RE SOLVING

Uganda's IT education gap, in numbers

In March 2025, COTE published “Analysing the Gaps in IT Education in Uganda” — original research that informs everything we build. The findings are stark.

At the primary school level, structured IT education is virtually non-existent — even though every downstream career, every government service, and every modern economic opportunity will require it.

OUR ANSWER · CLICK PROGRAMME

A research-informed, gamified, three-tier model — built to scale

CLICK is COTE's direct response to the IT education gap. It runs for 10 months at Amon Mukalazi Memorial School in Kyegegwa, serving 240 P4–P7 children — many seeing a computer for the first time in their lives. Every component is intentionally designed to be replicated in any rural African primary school.

CLICK Junior Championship
TIER 3

CLICK Junior Championship

Top 6 students · inter-school competition

The school's strongest CLICK pupils compete against other schools in the IT Junior Championship — earning academic prizes, public recognition, and a clear pathway into secondary-school digital education.

FUNDING MODEL

A tri-party model that doesn't collapse when one partner leaves

CLICK is intentionally not single-donor dependent. COTE puts significant skin in the game, donors fund the expansion, and participating families contribute UGX 5,000 per pupil per month — creating community ownership from day one and a sustainability pathway long after any donor cycle ends.
